Nelson's work was featured in the January 2007 issue of Ceramics Monthly magazine (see cover left). The two-page artical is below, but can also be accessed at the
Ceramics Monthly website
The artical featured one of Nelson's most creative pieces - "For His Pleasure", which can be better seen on this website
here
Also included on the article's second page was "Bringing Home The Bacon", one of many original pig sculptures that Nelson has created.
In November 2006 Nelson won "Best In Show" at Alabama Power Company's Centennial Art Exhibit - "100 Years. Lighting The Way". The winning sculpture, entitled "Captain William Lay" (see right), depicts the first Alabama Power president atop an original conception of electrical power.
Charles McCrary, CEO & President of Alabama Power Company announces Nelson the winner. The sculpture now sits on his desk.
Here Nelson receives his "Best In Show" ribbon presented by Bobbie Knight, Vice President - Public Relations, Alabama Power Company.

Subsequent to this competition, Alabama Power Company commissioned Nelson to develop a piece for their 2007 "Renew Our Rivers" community project. See that piece
