Hope Born Through Despair

Nelson won second place in Alabama Power Corporate Archives' 2013 exhibition “From Black & White to a World of Color. The Power to Transform Through Art”, a commemoration of the historic civil rights struggle that took place in Birmingham in 1963. The piece honors the four girls killed in the Sixteenth Street Baptist.

In November, 2006 Nelson won "Best In Show" at Alabama Power Company's Centennial Art Exhibit - "100 Years. Lighting The Way". The winning sculpture, depicts the first Alabama Power president atop an original conception of electrical power.

Freedom To Be

This piece was commissioned by Alabama Power Company in 2007 for the "Renew Our Rivers" community project.
